My Teaching Philosophy
First and foremost, all students are welcome in my studio. I work with all students of all ages, all ability levels, and all levels of commitment. Whether you would like your child to start with a strong foundation in the instrument before he or she starts in elementary school, or you're an adult and have never played an instrument before, I'd be happy to work with you.
In the course of my training, I have studied the Suzuki Method, the Paul Rolland Method, the Sassmannhaus Method, and have trained under pedagogues at Longy School of Music and the Peabody Conservatory. I personally use a blend of these methods and tailor my teaching materials and style to fit each individual student, based on his or her learning style and goals. During lessons, my students learn to multi-task: they build technique, begin or improve music reading, and analyze the music they play.
Some books I use: The Suzuki Method, The O'Connor String Method, The Samuel Applebaum Series, Susan Brown, Carl Flesch, and Galamian scales; Wohlfahrt, Mazas, Dont etudes.

How long of a lesson do I need?
Generally, the more advanced the student, or the older the student, the longer the lesson should be.
If your 5-year-old is just beginning an instrument, a 30-minute lesson is plenty.
If you're a teenager or older, a 45 or 60-minute lesson would be more appropriate.
